" Providing Essential Quality Control Services for South Carolina Farmers "

The South Carolina farmer is faced with many challenges as he seeks to survive in an industry that severely penalizes any lack of efficiency.  In such an environment, the quality of production inputs must be assured.

The Department of Fertilizer and Seed Certification Services at Clemson University helps to provide that assurance by offering field and laboratory services for seed, fertilizers, and lime.  Legal authority has been granted by the SC General Assembly toClemson University for enforcing the SC Fertilizer Law and the Agricultural Liming Materials Act. Clemson is also authorized by law to administer a program of seed certification for South Carolina.

These programs, with the cooperation of the seed and fertilizer industries, serve to enhance the efficiency of production inputs and, thus, potential profitability of South Carolina farmers.
